Let’s talk mental health. I’d like to introduce you to Duff The Psych, AKA Dr Robert Duff, and his online course ‘Kick Anxiety’s Ass’. Plus, links to some great organisations that are really making a difference.

Many of you will know that I am an avid supporter of raising awareness for mental health and increasing your wellbeing. I’m privileged to have been featured on Time to Change on numerous occasions and I am passionate about breaking down the barriers and stigma surrounding mental health. I have recently added a section on my website dedicated to mental health and wellbeing, which I hope you will enjoy and appreciate. So many people suffer in silence and I want to help show how this doesn’t need to be the case. Cruising and baking are still two of my structural pillars, but this is something I am equally passionate about. The more people talk about it, the more progress we can make.

Duff The Psych

So, I wanted to talk about Dr Duff, a practising Psychologist based all the way over in Southern California. He heads up a great website, aptly named Duff The Psych, which provides some fantastic information, tools and guidance on understanding and coping with mental health.

I think that the field of mental health has a big problem. It is scary and intimidating. Why? When you are already struggling with emotional difficulties, the last thing that you need is some huge psychobabble manual thrown at you. My speciality is taking complex psychological issues and breaking them down into plain language.

Dr Robert Duff

Despite being based in the US, there are still many reasons why you should check out his website. That goes for whether you suffer with your mental health or not. If you are offended by the occasional use of some colourful language then it may not be for you (you’ve been warned!). But with best selling books, excellently crafted blogs, videos and even an online support group, it is without a doubt an incredible resource. Yes, some of it is geared up for the US, such as the mental health emergency resources, but we do have our own support charities in the UK, many of which can be found on my Mental Health Resources page.

Why am I telling you all of this? Because I want you to know that you are never alone. However bad you are feeling, however bleak your outlook seems, there is always someone to talk to. Some of you may not know that in 2019 I completed my PhD in Psychology. I don’t specialise in mental health but it is something I have first-hand experience of. From a personal perspective, I have yet to come across a resource that has helped me more than Duff The Psych. So I wanted to share it with you.

Kick Anxiety’s Ass

As part of his continued commitment to helping people combat mental health issues, Robert has launched an online course entitled Kick Anxiety’s Ass’. Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, he is offering a ridiculously good discount which gives you lifetime access to this brilliant resource, as well as all future updates.

Dr Robert Duff

This course is designed to give you the knowledge, understanding and skills to help kick anxiety’s ass! This is the first large-scale course Robert has launched. It’s set to tackle some of the most important topics surrounding anxiety and how to combat it. For an introduction, some of the modules have been made available for free: ‘Defining Anxiety’, ‘Breath Training’ and ‘Thinking Traps’. Whether you’re interested in taking the course or not, I really do recommend checking them out.

I’ve completed the course myself and have found it extremely helpful in combatting my anxiety. Even with all my study, the numerous books I’ve read and sessions I’ve attended, it still gave me a fresh perspective. Most importantly, it’s friendly and easy to relate to. As he says, it’s mental health for real people.

Help is always at hand

This isn’t a sponsored post. I’m sharing because I truly believe in it and hope Duff The Psych can help someone else as much as his resources have helped me.

The important message is no one is truly alone. If you’re suffering, head to my Mental Health Resources page. And if you’re not suffering but wondering how you can help? Take a peek as well…small things can make a big difference. Often a simple ‘hello, how are you?’ is enough to turn someones day into a much more positive one. Want to do a little more? Then why not sign up to be a change maker – every little deed helps. And don’t forget to check out Duff The Psych @ www.duffthepsych.com
