Danny Martyn – The Cruising Baker
Having always been a keen writer, more often for work than pleasure, I thought why not spend time writing for myself and hopefully share some of my passions with the world along the way. So why The Cruising Baker? Aside from the fact it was the only name I could think of which I liked, it is a name which combines two of my biggest passions – cruising and baking! I hope to fill this blog with writings about both, sharing my travels, experiences, activities and recipes!
Baking has been part of my life since before I can remember. Fond memories with my Mum and Nan in the kitchen ingrained a passion for all things baking. Although I will admit I am no expert (and do make many mistakes along the way!), I love to try my hand at new things, along with some classic old favourites and hope to share some of these with you all.
My interest in travel and cruising came much later. Although I have always had an urge to explore, I hadn’t travelled out of the UK until the summer after my 18th birthday when I embarked on my first cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas. My thirst for exploration was ignited and my passion for cruising inflamed. Several cruises later and I have been lucky enough to make up for lost time. In my constant search to learn more about the cruise industry, it struck me how there is so much content on the Internet that it can be difficult to know where to start, especially for first time cruisers in the UK! I took charge and British Cruising was born, a website which has been built from the ground up being specifically designed for the British point of view.
Impartial advice and help where needed, British Cruising doesn’t aim or intend to sell you a cruise. In constant development, it has been created with the aim of being your first port of call, leading the way to the information you want to find on the web, whilst keeping you updated with the latest news, information, reviews, articles and, most of all, fun!
The Cruising Baker emerged as a branch from British Cruising and so as well as writings about my travels, baking and explorations, I aim to keep you updated on the latest news and happenings from the UK cruise industry. Honestly, food and cruising…I can’t think of two better matched subjects!
Outside my pursuit of cruising and baking? I enjoy photography, tropical fish keeping and have a love of animals (so you may get the odd post on any of the above!). Professionally I create and manage websites and am currently on the verge of completing a Ph.D in Psychology, with a focus on consumer and cyber psychology, individual differences and autism. Linked to this is a passion for raising awareness of mental health issues and trying to combat the stigma which is attached to this.
All that’s left to say is thank you for joining me on what I hope you will find an interesting journey! I never assume anyone will be interested in my life or what I have to say, but if you find yourself even the slightest bit interested then I am eternally grateful.
Both my blog and my websites are heavily influenced by what you, the reader, wants to see and know and I count on your interaction to help inspire me to write. If you want to get in touch, about anything, then I will be more than happy to hear from you. You can reach me through the contact page, or drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or a message on Facebook!
Keep smiling and happy sailing!
